Baylor Norseman

Regular price £475.00 Sale

OVERVIEW:

This Baylor Nørseman Watch from the 1970's is triple signed (dial, crown and movement) and comes in its original light blue Baylor Watch Box. It is in incredible condition with a mint condition multi-toned dial with a blue outer rings separated by a silver metal rings, white hour and minute markers and a date window at 3 o'clock. Check out the lume dots around the edge of the dial at the hour markers, as they have turned a stunning custard colour over the years as this watch has aged. The hand lume also matches this hour lume dots colour therefore this tell us they are original and unmolested!

It has a cushion shaped stainless steel case with brushed finish, short heavy lugs, case has a few tiny marks but really is not far from NOS condition. We have fitted it with a thick brown handmade strap made from 100% genuine leather obtained from Pittards in Somerset (UK), it is specifically tailored to this watch with lovely contrast blue stitching. It feels great, will age gorgeously and will mould perfectly to your wrist!

At its beating heart is a yellow gold beautiful Swiss made "AS/ST 1950/51" 17 Jewel Incabloc manual wind movement with a sweep second hand and a date window (set by changing between 21.00 and 24.00). This movement is keeping excellent time and has been tested over 48 hours for accuracy, the previous service records are unknown.

HISTORY of Baylor:

Baylor Watch Co. is not a name you hear that often and for that exact reason that is why we love Baylor watches (I personally own one too), they provide such great value for money and have impeccable style. Baylor Watch Co. was once under the umbrella of Benrus from the 1950s through the 1970s and had a strong presence in the United States as it was retailed by Zales Jewelry Company. Heuer made numerous watches for Zales under the Baylor watch name. When Heuer decide to unload most all their mechanical and automatic watches and concentrate on the automatic chronograph Zales purchase the entire stock for pennies on the dollar, thus why they are a fantastic value proposition with reliable and strong movements. Just don't tell too many people about this little known watch fact so you can still buy a Baylor for a reasonable price....shhhhh!
