Mens Vintage Oriosa Reverse Panda Chronograph 1960s Watch, Valjoux 7733 & Original Box
Vintage manual wound chronographs are steadily rising in value and will continue to do so, Reverse Panda dial examples with Swiss Valjoux Movements are also some of the most desirable watches within the vintage watch world.
This watch has a white on black 'Reverse Panda' dial with white textured subdials, with lovely custard lume and a lovely chocolate patina beginning to form from the centre of the dial (please see macro pictures for details). Considering this watch is nearly 60 years old, it has been really looked after as it is in amazing condition and running beautifully. Not to forget, it comes with a burgundy vintage Oriosa watch box!
The Oriosa brand is a long forgotten Swiss manufacturer that produced some top quality watches; my local watch maker in Somerset mentioned that he dealt with Oriosa S.A a great deal before the 'Quartz Crisis' in the 1970's, he always has great things to say about how well they are made, their reliable movements and their overall style. Unfortunately like many Swiss brands that existed before the Quartz Crisis they failed to ride out the wave and sadly died out which is a real shame. Nevertheless this is good for you if you are looking to buy this watch, as they will only get rarer and rarer.
We have team it with a black handmade leather strap made from 100% genuine leather obtained from Pittards in Somerset (UK), it is specifically tailored to this watch with contrast white stitching that really brings out that reverse panda dial. It feels great, will age gorgeously and will mould perfectly to your wrist!
MOVEMENT:
Swiss Made Valjoux 7733 manual winding mechanical movement (also used in Heuer and Breitling watches of the same era). It has just been fully serviced by The Galleries Jewelers in Wells (Somerset, UK) on 15/10/2019, the chronograph resets to 12, the chronograph dials works perfectly and it keeps accurate time. These movements are highly reliable and easy to maintain, parts are also plentiful.
CASE: Watch case is in great condition. DIAL: Great condition. BACK CASE: Great condition CROWN: Fair condition, some plating has come off as shown. CRYSTAL: Brand new, amazing condition. OVERALL CONDITION: Has been tested, cleaned and checked over and is in excellent working order.
